Kathleen C. Kaufman

Kathleen, an owner of Rockwell & Kaufman, L.L.C., grew up in Mobile, Alabama and attended the University of Alabama, where she received a B.A. She went on to attend the University of Alabama School of law and received her juris doctorate in 1996. She returned to Mobile and practiced for several years at a large firm handling a variety of claims before starting her own firm.

Kathleen’s practice is focused in the areas of medical malpractice, construction and insurance defense. She provides direct representation for physicians, nurses, therapists and nursing homes. Additionally, she handles claims on behalf of contractors, architects, engineers and insurers.

As part of her strong experience in appellate practice, Kathleen has authored briefs in significant cases that impact medical malpractice. She has served as a member of the Alabama Defense Lawyers Association Amicus Committee since 1998. She is a sought after speaker on issues of risk management in the areas of medical malpractice and construction. She has spoken and advised on topics relating to regulatory and litigation issues affecting building contractors and insurers and on the impact of arbitration in the medical arena.

Kathleen is licensed to practice before the State and Federal courts in Alabama and has been an active member of both the Alabama Bar Association and the Mobile Bar Association, serving on numerous committees and panels within the Bar.

Kathleen’s commitment to community service is extensive, from volunteering her time and resources to the Volunteer Lawyers Program and serving as both an Elder and a Deacon in her church. She is also involved in numerous charitable and non-profit organization, often volunteering her time to work and raise funds. Additionally, she is an advocate for and works with at risk children, exposing them to the arts and reading. She is also a graduate of Leadership Mobile. Kathleen is married and is raising two children.
